Prise en charge odontologique des patients atteints d'épidermolyse bulleuse héréditaire

Abstract : Inherited Epidermolysis Bullosa (I.E.B.) represent a group of very rare dermatological diseases. They are mostly characterized by the development of cutaneous and/or mucosal blistering on the patient’s body. E.B. has been divided into four main categories: E.B Simplex, Junctional E.B., Dystrophic E.B. and Kindler syndrome. Their signs and their severity are very different ; these patients’ follow up demands to develop specific procedures adapted for each one. Medical care of these patients have to be done by a multidisciplinary team, and it is important to include a dentist, because oral cavity is often involved in the over all clinical picture of the disease. On account of its characteristics, oral care for patients with E.B. represents a true challenge for dental practitioner. The purpose of this work is to give necessary elements to dentist to understand these diseases . Preventive measures and dental cares are described, and the way to bring them into play.
