Les lésions des pieds des bovins laitiers : étude à partir des données collectées lors des interventions de parage et d’une enquête en élevage

Abstract : Lameness is a huge sanitary problem in dairy cattle and is usually caused by hoof lesions. In order to manage this sanitary problem, an analysis of data on 43462 hoof lesions statements and an on-farm investigation were carried out. Strong associations have been highlighted between infectious lesions and between heel horn erosion and both infectious and non-infectious lesions. An update to the list of the lesions likely to induce lameness was suggested. Some risk factors about cows’ housing have been identified. Indeed, scrapers and duckboards seem to be prejudicial to infectious lesions. Then are discussed the associations between lesions and the way how scrapers and duckboards impact infectious lesions. This study gives some clues to give better advices to farmers on how to reduce lameness in dairy farms.
