Étude non invasive sur moulages de la morphologie des crêtes terminales mandibulaires

Abstract : Alternatives treatments can be considered for prosthetic rehabilitation of partial removal prosthesis. For clinical decisions, several elements have to be taken into account in particular alveolar bone loss estimation. The aim of this work is to establish, with observational and non-invasive study, a statistical distribution of the mandibular ridges diversity. A strictly experimental protocol was implemented. Plaster slide casts have been selected, prepared and photographed for a computer measurement analysis. Further measurements have been performed on the mandibular ridges (height, width, area, lingual, inclination). Measurements of the width of the lower arch completed results of this study. Data obtained are interpreted to be confronted with the evidence-based dentistry and clinical reality. This work allowed to have a new look on the mandibular alveolar bone resorption and its direction.
