La place du langage dans la démarche d’investigation en maternelle

Abstract : The field "mobilize the language in all its dimensions" reinforces the essential role of language in kindergarten but what is its role in the acquisition of scientific skills through the implementation of the investigative process. In order to distinguish between two physical states of matter (solid and liquid), two sequences were implemented by differentiating the group with important language time from the one in which achieving experiences advocated. The results highlighted a large increase for the group "with language" contrary to the second. In fact, these exchange times allow to take into account the initial conceptions of students and to adjust them by creating a cognitive conflict rather than bringing new knowledge only by conducting experiments. This study shows that language is an important factor in the construction of scientific knowledge, although in the long term, the results between the two groups are not significant to make a convincing track record on this second hypothesis, namely that the language would make easier the memorization of newly acquired skills.
