Comprendre la promotion pharmaceutique : état des lieux de l'enseignement aux étudiants en médecine de 2e cycle et de 3e cycle de médecine générale

Abstract : Introduction : medicine students being approached early by pharmaceutical promotion, this work aims at inventorying and describing the courses preparing graduate and postgraduate students of general medicine to this, in France, in 2016. Method : transverse descriptive study for January to September 2016, based on a mix questionnaire. For the postgraduates, this questionnaire was sent electronically to the members of the 35 departments of General Medicine (Départements de Médecine Générale, DMG) ; for the graduates, it was sent to the deans of the 35 medicines school with analysis of their courses. Results : 340 DMG's members and 101 deans and lecturers of graduate courses were contacted. After re-targeting and duplicates filtering, 26 answers from 20 schools have been gathered. Only 21 courses have been inventoried, amongst them 14 courses for postgraduates (7 mandatory and 7 optional) and 7 for graduates (1 mandatory and 6 optional). Only two schools include it in a program. The total time represents only 2 to 5 hours (57% of graduates and 29% of postgraduates). Optional courses are better attended for postgraduates with 50% of attendance. Most courses take place as interactive lectures (76%) without exam or control of knowledge, but with the main objective of promoting critical analysis and use of independent resources. The topics are often similar (legals and ethic 81%, visits 76%) and the contents are various, included in a transverse and multi-fields approach. Limiting factors seems to be the lack of time and poor program integration. Conclusion : there is still too few courses dedicated to pharmaceutical promotion.
