Diagnostic de cancer associé à la grossesse, aspects psychologiques : revue de la littérature 2005-2015

Abstract : Background : being diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy or in the year following childbirth is a rarely witnessed phenomenon which should develop in the forthcoming years, due to increasing late childbearing. A pregnant woman diagnosed with cancer will have to deal psychologically with two events endangering her psychosocial balance – pregnancy and cancer. Being diagnosed with such a pathology can negatively impact on the pregnancy and on the future interactions between mother and child. Objective : to analyse the already published scientific articles dealing with the psychological impacts of being diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy or in the year following childbirth. Methods : several databases have been consulted to find related articles published between 2005 and 2015. Nine articles have been selected for this systematic review. Results : a pregnant woman diagnosed with cancer will have more risks to experience long-term distress. Being a mother and being gravely ill are two situations that are hard to deal with at the same time. Cancer is a risk to the quality of the future relationship between mother and child. Conclusion : a psychological standard model of caring will not correspond to every patient. Health professional will have to adapt themselves to every single case.
