Psychometrician session with autistic children: the importance of imitation
Imitating is a skill the child experiments from the very beginning of his life. This complex mechanism allows him to create relations, to differentiate from the other and to acquire new motor skills. In some pathologies such as autism those imitative skills are becoming hampered. The psychometrician, in order to help the autistic child in the development of his communicational skills, can rely on his psych corporal implication. Thanks to the association of both the psychometrian visual perception and the feelings provided by the movement, the imitation participates in the autistic child somatopsychic development. Throughout this dissertation I have tried to highlight the different roles the imitation can take during a session with autistic children and more precisely when it comes to their psych corporal development.
