Le lean management dans un environnement cosmétique : opportunités et limites

Abstract : Lean is an organizational system whose goal is to improve the processes performance by exploiting the methods, techniques and daily on-the-field practices. This enables a company to generate added value to meet customers’ needs, with the right resources, for less and as soon as possible. Lean is applied in pharmaceutical industries but can also be applied, through tools, in cosmetic industries to achieve this much-needed operational excellence. As customers become more and more demanding with regard to the quality of the cosmetic products they are looking for, industrialists are turning to this stricter approach that has already been succesfully tried and tested in the pharmaceutical sector. However, these tools have to be associated with a well-structured management policy and adapted to all hierarchical levels. Indeed, it is not the accuracy of the procedures and established rules that allow a process of continuous improvement to run smoothly, but rather the silent initiative of the employees and the quality of relationships that everyone maintains. The human element appears to be the key success factor but can also be source of resistance to change and reluctance. It is therefore essential to make change an asset and not a constraint by going through stages of analysis, diagnosis, support and Lean project management to ensure their success and their durability.
