avoir sélectionné les patients uniquement en service de médecine interne et en maladies infectieuses constitue évidemment un biais de sélection important. Les conclusions d'une telle étude ont vocation à s'appliquer dans ce type de service, plus qu'ailleurs, mais l'éosinophilie est souvent de découverte fortuite, et souvent de cause médicamenteuse, ce qui peut survenir dans n'importe quel service hospitalier, et également en dehors de l'hôpital. une part pour ne retenir que des valeurs franchement pathologiques, et d'autre part pour des raisons de faisabilité de l'étude, le nombre de dossiers à passer en revue étant trop important avec un seuil plus bas ,

Âge des patients L'âge ne comptait pas parmi les critères d'inclusion ou d'exclusion, mais les services au sein desquels ils ont été sélectionnés ne prenaient pas habituellement en charge les moins de 15 ans. Certaines pathologies plus spécifiques de l'enfant, comme les déficits immunitaires primitifs, n'apparaissent donc pas dans cette étude. 4.4. Caractère rétrospectif de l'étude L'une des caractéristiques intrinsèques de l'étude limite sa portée : il s'agissait d'une étude rétrospective, basée sur l'analyse de dossiers a posteriori, en se basant sur les diagnostics retenus par les cliniciens ayant vu les patients, sans réel moyen d'en vérifier l'exactitude, La comparaison des populations de patients ayant telle ou telle pathologie est donc grevée par le fait que les diagnostics que nous avons utilisés ne sont pas toujours vérifiables.
