Évaluation de la salle nature de Port-Royal deux ans après son ouverture : le point de vue des sages-femmes hospitalières

Abstract : Soon after the opening of the Port-Royal maternity ward, a physiological center was created. This one includes antenatal follow-up for low-risk patients by private midwifes or doctors in collaboration with the hospital and a natural birth room for patients wishing to deliver without epidural analgesia. This room is equipped with specific devices. On May 9th, 2014 the first patient benefited of this room. A qualitative study has been realized in order to determine how Port-Royal midwifes adapted to this new room. In this purpose, figures were extracted from the database and 20 midwifes were interviewed. As a result, midwifes have been able to adapt to the room although it is much less used than expected. Indeed, they modified their care, mentioned they share their experiences and made some suggestions. However, midwifes highlighted a lack of time to accompany the patients in this context. This study also made it possible to improve the care of the patients in the natural birth room thanks to a modification of the protocol.
