In this memoir I shall attempt to analyse the interest of playing in the body-mind development of a young child who suffers from cerebral palsy. I will show how I gradually become conscious that play is incredibly important for a child’s development, helping to shape key social, creative, language, emotional, cognitive and physical processes. Through the role play sessions, I was able to meet Noémie and deeply connect with her. Sessions after sessions we built together a story. Role playing enabled me to become aware of the necessity for bulding a strong therapeutic relationship with the child. Throughout the process, I also realised the importance of my receptiveness, my empathy and the right distance between I and Noémie.
