With Alain, a boy from the Early Medico-Social Assistance Center, the psychomotor therapist often used the sounds of musical instruments to support the initiation of movements. With Imène, a visually impaired teenager, the psychomotor therapist suggested percussive rhythm to help her express herself and regulate her tonus, her emotions. Music as a mediating object has characteristics that give the psychomotor therapist the possibility of offering conditions conducive to the emergence of movement, the regulation of gesture and the expression of self. This movement of the body mobilizes the emotions, the tonus, the body pattern, the body image, the lived perception of time and space, the way to devote one’s body and use it to enter in a relationship with one another. Thus, the entire psychomotor organization can be modulated through music as mediation.
