Description de l'utilisation de Biodentine™ dans la pratique clinique actuelle des chirurgiens-dentistes de Nouvelle-Aquitaine

Abstract : Biodentine™ is a tricalcium silicate-based cement designed as a dentine substitute material. Biocompatible, bioactive, with strong mechanical properties and a fast setting time, Biodentine™ could be an efficient alternative to MTA. This material has a wide range of applications including restaurative dentistry (temporary enamel restauration, indirect and direct pulp capping), endodontic repair (root canal / furcation perforations, external and internal resorptions, apexogenesis, apexification) and endodontic surgery (retrograde filling material). The aim of this study is to describe the use of Biodentine™ in the practice of today’s dentists of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The survey was sent by mail and 134 replies were received. Biodentine™’s full range of applications is seldom known by the practitioners, with its use being very limited. Direct pulp capping is the most widely known application, according to 53% of the dentists surveyed. MTA and calcium hydroxyde are the most used materials for the other applications submitted. The main drawback of Biodentine™ according to those surveyed appear to be its expensive price.
