Le cours d’arts plastiques : une prise de conscience par rapport aux images

Abstract : Our society continually offers countless pictures that students are not often able to analyse correctly. That is why I have decided to study how it would possible to develop among my learners a critical awareness on the pictures they observe. First, in this report I study the relevant theoretical framework and the expectations of National Education in relation to image training and I observe that our teaching authorities particularly insist on this type of education. Then, I examine the impact of images on viewers and the fact that pictures are extremely varied and omnipresent in modern life, by questioning their connection to reality. This approach leads me to develop the idea that pictures are mere representations of the world. Finally, I suggest that it might be a good idea to propose teaching modules based on pictures that do not originate from the world of art. My goal is to analyse pictures with codes and messages that are supposedly familiar to students in order to make learners work on representations with a fresh vision.
