Enjeux et freins à l’utilisation du premier biosimilaire de l’insuline glargine en milieu hospitalier

Abstract : The insulin glargine Lantus® is currently the most prescribed insulin in France and its use led to high and increasing cost for the health system. At the patent expiry at the end of 2015, the market opened up to competition of a first biosimilar Abasaglar®, whose marketing promises significant savings. This work aims to understand the issues for the health system, and the implications and the barriers of the hospital sector in the biosimilar implementation. Because beyond strictly hospital issues, the hospital is a major lever for biosimilar penetration in the glargine market.
