L’éveil à la phonologie anglaise à travers l’écoute, l’imitation et la discrimination auditive en maternelle

Abstract : In a world where the means of communication keep increasing, foreign languages cannot be ignored. Nowadays, English is the first international language of communication. As a matter of fact, it is very needed to exchange and open ourselves to the World. Its learning is essential and starts in primary school. However, in France, a country with such an international influence, speaking English is a weak skill. How to explain that this open-minded country has such an inadequate level of English? And which solutions may be brought to primary school to help pupils master this language? Would it be better to start learning English much earlier when, according to several studies, young children are more equipped to hear and produce sounds from a foreign language? I will attempt to answer these questions in this master’s thesis.
