Troubles du comportement alimentaire et addictions, l’alimentation peut-elle devenir une addiction ?

Abstract : Eating disorders can be the source of psychosocial, metabolic and cardiovascular difficulties that can lead to death. Initially consumed to survive, nowadays food takes a much larger place in society to the point where envy and pleasure are more relevant than need and hunger when selecting food. In view of the complexity of the relationship with food, the concept of food addiction is today seriously considered. This work aims at studying the relationship between eating disorder and food addiction, in order to identify whether eating disorders can be considered as an addiction. To do so, we will first redefine the meaning of addiction before then describing the psychology behind the balance diet required for our survival. Next, we will look at the neurobiological and behavioural similarities between these two mechanisms. Finally we will discuss the impact of society on eating disorders that nowadays makes it a public health problem.
