Amélioration des performances d’un polarimètre de Mueller monté en réflexion dans l’espace réciproque

Abstract : I worked at improving the performance of a microscope in reflexion that can work both in real or reciprocal space, in Mueller polarimetry. Previous studies on this polarimeter, for instance on measuring roughness, on measuring anisotropic films or on the metrology of periodic structures, have shown the potential but also the limits of this instrument. There are numerous possible improvements but they are far from trivial. I redesigned completely the lighting system, the nature and the position of several critical optic elements, and I worked on the fundamental issue of the artefacts caused by the imperfections of the objectives, and more specifically from a polarimetric point of view. The calibration of the instrument which is a particularly thorny task in this geometry by reflexion, has been improved so that the system can meet the high requirements of metrology applications. Therefore, this work is the compilation of several different studies on various topics: polarimetric radar simulation and liquid crystal.
