Prise en charge des troubles anxio-dépressifs à l'officine : intérêt et limites des adjuvants nutritionnels

Abstract : Depression is a neuropsychiatric disorder affecting more than 3 million people in France. It affects all ages and all socio-professional categories. It is characterized by several typical symptoms such as anxiety, sadness, anhedonia, asthenia, loss of self-esteem, but also a disturbance of sleep. It can lead in the most serious forms to suicide. Antidepressant treatments are numerous and mechanisms of action well known. The benefit / risk ratio is well established but the adverse effects are numerous. In addition, some patients, despite treatment, still have symptoms. In addition to research on new pharmacological treatments, several studies on micronutrients and herbal medicine as an adjunct to conventional treatments have been conducted. Studies especially on omega-3 are the most numerous and show a real benefit. Other micronutrients such as the precursors of serotonin (tryptophan), dopamine (tyrosine), melatonin or their enzymatic cofactors (B vitamins, iron, zinc, magnesium) appear to be effective but many studies should be performed on a larger number of patients.
