Évaluation de la qualité rédactionnelle de 110 ordonnances en Île-de-France en 2016

Abstract : Introduction: the legal prescription framework has recently changed as since 1st of January 2015 it is mandatory to prescribe international non-proprietary name (INN) drugs. In this new context, it seemed interesting to evaluate the editorial quality of a sample of prescriptions in 2016. Objective: the main objective is to assess the editorial quality of prescriptions: respect of the legal aspects and readability. The secondary objective is to assess the association between the order in which the drugs are listed on the prescription and drug adherence. Methods: descriptive cross-sectional study with data collection via a questionnaire sent to patients and carried out in four hospital departments, four general practice offices and a pharmacy. Patients older than 18, in possession of a prescription dating less than one year and taking a long-term treatment were included in the study. Results: a total of 110 patients were recruited including 65 men (59.1%). The median age was 68.5 years. Out of the 567 drugs included, only 155 (27.3%) were INN prescribed. Legal mentions were predominantly present but there was no mention of the practician specialty on 11 prescriptions (10%), address was missing on 6 (5.5%), date on 3 (2.7%) and name of the patient on one (0.9%). According to the patients, 84.2% of the prescriptions were readible. There was no significant association between the order of the drug on prescription and drug adherence. Conclusion: in most instances, legal mentions are present but, one year after the decree imposing INN prescriptions, most doctors do not respect it. Therefore, improving the editorial quality of prescriptions still remains a major challenge.
