Quelle a été l’influence du « Contrat d’Engagement de Service Public » sur le choix de l’activité professionnelle de ses signataires ? Enquête nationale qualitative auprès de médecins signataires actuellement en exercice

Abstract : French medical demography experiences inequalities in the distribution of doctors on French territory. The CESP was created in 2009 to encourage young doctors to work in those « medical deserts ». In return, they receive a grant each month during their studies. This qualitative national study was based on phone interviews of signatory doctors who currently practice medicine. The main purpose was to describe the influence of the CESP on the choice of their current employment status. The second purpose was to make them suggest how the contract could be improved. 19 doctors (17 general practitioners and 2 psychiatrists) working in metropolitan France and in Overseas Territories were interviewed between March and June 2016. The CESP didn’t change the current employment status of the signatory doctors or its perenniality. But it encouraged the doctors who worked in private practice to set up faster. They suggested to make the contract clearer and improve the support by the ARS (Agences Régionales de Santé in french), Regional Health Agencies. Before the contract signature, the interviewed doctors had already the project of practicing in sub-medicalized areas. The CESP was more a godsend than an incentive measure for the first signatories.
