Intérêt de la thérapie miroir en ergothérapie auprès des personnes atteintes d’héminégligence

Abstract : Title: Mirror Therapy (MT) and hemineglect: what impact on body schema and autonomy/independence in activities of daily living? Background/Objective: The neglect syndrome is a cluster of neurological symptoms commonly found after a right-hemisphere stroke. Few studies suggest an effect of MT on hemineglect consequences. This study aimed to investigate the efficiency of MT on body schema and autonomy for individuals with hemineglect syndrome. Materials and Methods: Using a clinical and qualitative method, three occupational therapists working in rehabilitation centers were interviewed during semi-structured discussions. Results: MT in addition to conventional rehabilitation has resulted in an increased awareness of the affected arm, a gain in autonomy when moving around and during hygiene/dressing tasks. Conclusion: Effectiveness of MT on body schema and autonomy for individuals with hemineglect syndrome is likely. To confirm these results an interventional study needs to be carried out.
