Caractérisation de la végétation de Rennes Métropole par relevé LiDAR en vue de sa modélisation

Abstract : The 3D model of Rennes Métropole sees its uses increase (communication, design assistance, etc.), as well as its necessity of exhaustiveness and precision. Buildings are regularly and reliably modeled, which is not yet the case with vegetation. This end-of-study work aims to create an automatic process to characterize the vegetation of the metropolitan territory in view of its modeling, on the basis of available data and in particular a LiDAR dataset. The process adopted follows a very common approach, starting with the creation of a Canopy Height Model, which represents the top surface of the vegetation after subtraction of the Digital Terrain Model. The CHM thus obtained is then filtered and weighted by a raster of its slopes, to be the object of a search of local maxima (tree tops). The CHM is then returned and segmented by a watershed algorithm. To finish, the characteristics specific to each crown are added and the modeling can be started.
