Interactions « biofilm-herbivores » : influence de la qualité des ressources alimentaires sur l'état physiologique des herbivores

Abstract : Insert herbivorous species can be a promising tool to limit excessive and potentially damaging developments biofilms in natural or human systems such as infiltration basins. To solve the clogging problem of infiltration basins of Crépieux-Charmy, the LEHNA proposes to introduce a grazer (Viviparus viviparus) to limit these developments due to interactions between herbivore and biofilm. "Water-sediment" interfaces of such infiltration basins are indeed colonized by biofilms with an algal component which is more or less dense over the seasons. More over, their compositions vary from one basin to another. Consequently, the main question is to maintain Viviparus viviparus a full year and in all the basins. Therefore, this TFE aims to have a better understanding of the "biofilm-grazers" interactions to determine more precisely how the quality of food resources affects the physiological state of these herbivores. To answer to this question, an experimental protocol, based on the theory of stoichiometry, has been developed to test the effects of the quality of three different foods on the energy reserves (glycogen, triglycerides, proteins) and the growth rate of Viviparus viviparus.
