Optidose, un outil majeur pour réduire les intrants phytosanitaires au sein du vignoble de la Maison Lavau-Maucoil, dans le cadre du plan gouvernemental Ecophyto

Abstract : After the 2007 Grenelle Environment Forum, the French government set up in 2008 the Ecophyto Plan. The purpose was to reduce by 50% in ten years the consumption of phytosanitary products in France. The plan was revised in 2015 to give an updated version: the Ecophyto II Plan. The initial objective remained the same, but with a path in two stages: reductions of 25% by 2020 and 50% by 2025 have to be reached. The Maison Lavau-Maucoil, originally winemaker and wine merchant of the Southern Rhône Valley, now owns vineyards in the region and wants to be part of this plan. Various solutions exist to allow the reduction of chemicals used in vine growing. For instance, the French Institute for Vine and Wine developed a program of reduction of the phytosanitary products doses, called Optidose. This program has been tested for eight years and it is now approved. Since 2014, the goal is to transfer the method to as many vineyards as possible. Here, we are studying the feasibility and testing the implementation of that tool within the Maison Lavau-Maucoil vineyard, to see its impact on the consumption of pesticides. We aim to see if Optidose, coupled with further efforts, may allow us to reach the threshold of a reduction of pesticides consumption by half by 2025. The study becomes even more interesting as the company has a lot of specificities, for both location of the vineyards as well as their management. Different key points will be considered to have an overall picture of the effectiveness and the profitability of Optidose within the vineyard. Both environmental and economic dimensions will be analysed to see if that program is valuable and if it can be part of the future of the Maison Lavau-Maucoil vineyard.
