Le piéton dans l'espace public

Abstract : After having been ignored a long time, the issue of pedestrians and walking is now a social expectation and a growing concern in development projects. However, the public space is not always adapted to pedestrians. Through a multidisciplinary study, this dissertation proposes an analysis of pedestrians and their needs in order to plan and design spaces that are desirable to them. This work highlights the key role of pedestrians in the city, the diversity of individuals, uses and expectations and attempts to propose a methodological evolution of design practices.
