Prise en charge du sevrage tabagique par le pharmacien d'officine

Abstract : Smoking is a public health problem on a global scale but also on the french scale. In fact, every year, 73000 french people are killed by tobacco, in spite of many laws and regulations that have been put in place since 1976 and the Veil law: tobacco advertising ban, public places's smoking ban Rising the price of the cigarettes packs is the most cost-effective mesure, as it will happen in March 2018. Nowadays, data about cigarettes's harmfulness are sufficiently substantiated to conclude that it has an impact on every organs. Smoking is the main risk factor for lung cancer but also for cardiovascular disease. The pharmacist, as an health professionnal, can and must be involved in this fight against smoking. The advice and support of smokers are part of the new pharmacist's responsabilities. Nicotine substitutes are, after cognitive-behavioral therapy, among first-line traitements. Since 1999 and the delisting of nicotine substituts, the pharmacist has the same weapons as the other health professionals. The dosage of these substituts have to been adapted to the Fagerström test score. They only have small use limitations, like an unstabilized heart disease or a heart disease which occured within 3 months. Supportive care can be offered to smokers to facilitate or remove the obstacles to smoking cessation.
