L’impact d’un enseignement par le jeu sur l’apprentissage de l’anglais

Abstract : The presented study seeks to demonstrate the impact of learning through playing on English learning. This study was implemented in a CM1 class with a 10 year old age group (15 pupils). The aim was to identify the result of a play activity on the motivation and the involvement in learning English of pupils. Researches based on theories about motivation have shown the influence of a fun activity in the curiosity, the pleasure abed the desire to learn of pupils. Therefore, fun activities have positive consequences on intrinsic motivation and pupils’ involvement in learning English. The conducted sequence implied several types of games with the aim of learning body parts in English through various language skills. Results indicated that play activities had the desired effects on pupils’ motivation and their involvement. Despite the lack of motivation in learning English of some pupils, most of them seem to have “got into” this way of learning English. In conclusion, it appears obvious to carry on in this reflection in order to develop my teaching practice.
