Le jeu est-il un vecteur d'apprentissage d'une langue vivante étrangère ?

Abstract : The presented study seeks to measure in what circumstances the use of games can be an efficient learning strategy in English classes. This study was implemented in a kindergarten class with a group of eleven pupils (ages 4-5). The aim was to observe the effects of a pedagogy based on games on students’ motivation et involvement in learning. Researches from various academic fields such as human sciences, educational studies or neurosciences highlighted the fact that plays, use as a pedagogical tool, could arouse and stimulate a child’s curiosity, the desire and pleasure to learn. Moreover, researchers agree that early exposure to languages could stimulate reasoning skills in the native language, cognitive abilities and future linguistic proficiency. The purpose of the conducted learning sequence was to know few body parts while mobilizing language skills such as oral comprehension and oral expression for bilingual or monolingual pupils. Results confirm that plays are indeed a powerful motivating and committing factor in pupils’ language learning process.
