Le don de sang placentaire en France : état des lieux et perspectives d'avenir Revue de la littérature

Abstract : Objectives of the study: To determine the current place of placental blood donation in France including the ethical, financial and legislative limits that it implies and to evaluate the possible therapeutic perspectives of placental blood cells. Materials and Methods: This study is a literature review conducted from May to December 2017 from the PubMed and Cochrane Library databases. Twenty articles published in French or in English between 2009 and 2017 have been included. Results: Since 2014, the rate of transfer of unit placental blood is decreasing: there are today 35 103 USP on the French territory. This decrease is in favour of the identical haplo graft, widely used in 2016 in the treatment of blood diseases. The recent emergence of this new variety of allograft does not, however, for the moment to affirm its effectiveness in the long term. Regarding the future of USP, many studies based on the use of various components of cord blood have published very promising results for regenerative medicine. Conclusion: Less used today to treat haematological pathologies, USP is the hope of medicine based on cell therapy.
