Relation entre la gestion des prairies naturelles sur le territoire de l’AOP Bleu de Sassenage Vercors, leur composition floristique et le fourrage obtenu

Abstract : In Vercors, "Flowering meadows" with good ecological and agronomical values are promoted through the Contest Agri-Ecological Pratices and an MAEC "Flowering meadows". The purpose of this study is to identify these meadow’s caracteristics that differentiate them from other meadows, in relation to their use. To caracterise the meadows properties, floristic surveys and hay harvest have been made in "Flowering Meadows" and more intensive permanent meadows. A survey about their uses have also been made upon the farmers. Cuts in "Flowering Meadows" generally occuring later in the summer season is the only difference in use between the two groups of meadows. In consequence, their rate of late grasses is higher also with the variety of forbs in their composition. Their species richness is also higher but their regrowth capacity after the first cut in lower. Their hay quality, despite what farmers tend to think of, are not lower in term of agronomical quality. Furthermore, the presence of aromatical and medicinal species in their composition gives other quality of the hay produced in "Flowering Meadows". The "Flowering Meadows" have a good balance between ecological values and agronomical values.
