Développement d'une nouvelle méthode de raisonnement de la fertilisation azotée sur blé tendre d'hiver comme alternative à la méthode du bilan

Abstract : Two new methods of reasoning concerning nitrogen fertilization on winter wheat, APPI-N and CHN, have been finalized by INRA and Arvalis in order to optimise the total input of nitrogen, while guaranteeing quantitative and qualitative production. Within the framework of the project SOLINAZO, Axéréal has carried out two experiments in Chaumoy (18) and Tigy (45) in the 2017-2018 campaign. The fertilization strategy of these new methods were studied there and their performances compared to the balance sheet method. Measures of NNI, biomass, nitrogen balance were made during the whole plant cycle, and at harvest, the production variables were collected. This year, APPI-N and CHN have been characterized by later applications in the plant cycle and a smaller total amount of N brought in than with the balance sheet method. The pedoclimatic diversity of the two sites provided different conditions for the setting of the methods. The analysis of results reveals that the new methods have a tendency to be economically less effective but more respectful of the environment by maximizing fertilizer use efficiency. However, the lack of reliability of the tools used to assess the values of NNI in field (N-Tester and Greenseeker) limits the conclusions. The analysis needs to be followed up during the future two-year project. If the results are positive, the main issues will be to adapt these new techniques to the farms and to assist farmers in their daily use.
