Habitudes de prescription de l’activité physique chez les patients diabétiques, en médecine générale en Guadeloupe : freins

Abstract : BACKGROUND : The introduction of the decree on physical activity prescription for persons suffering from a long-standing disease reaffirms the role in chronic disease management, including diabetes, which is high prevalent in Guadeloupe. AIMS : Study physical activity prescribing practices in primary care for diabetics patients. Identify brakes and levers on this prescription in Guadeloupe. METHODS : Descriptive, observational, quantitative study, on the whole general physicians in the Guadeloupe archipelago. 26-item questionnaire, initially circulated by electronic post, and integrated with a mail-back campaign. A total of 103 responses has been exploited. RESULTS : There is a lack of adapted tools on physical activity prescription in diabetics patients has been identify by general physicians. Physicians adapt their prescriptions according to the perception they have about the patients physical activity value, in managing of their affection. DISCUSSION : Brakes and levers identify complies with local, national and international literature. Our approach on the establishment of a physical activity prescription tool adapted to general physicians needs. A complementary study on this tool cost and efficacity, and a qualitative study setting out the physicians expectations is suggested before this tool implementation. He has to be supported by health and administrative local authorities. CONCLUSION : Original study on physical activity prescription for diabetics patients in primary care. There is a lack of adapted tools on this prescription and we have identified potential solutions to offset this difficulty.
