Utilisation de plantes de service pour lutter contre les pucerons (et les thrips) en culture de fraises et d’aubergines : REGULEG

Abstract : Using plants’ services to increase diversity of natural enemies within crops might be a good way to improve pests control, aphids and thrips population, and reduce damages. Even more so since various resistances to pesticides have been discovered and the availability of those products have been reduced. In order to test the efficiency of this system on pests control on strawberries and eggplants cultures, we settled 3 resource plants, tansy ( Tanacetum vulgare L.), yarrow ( achillea millefolium L.) and buckwheat ( Fagopyrum esculentrum Moench) and 2 banker plants, milkweed ( asclepias L.) and wheat ( Triticum L.). Resource plants are plants which provide nectar or pollen to adults natural enemies and banker plants provide alternatives preys, as specifics aphids, to settle natural enemies earlier in the culture. The average number of pests and natural enemies have been counted on plants cultures and service plants from April to late July on 2 sites of strawberries production and 2 sites of eggplants production. The results didn’t show any differences between plants system and the control. The aphids number was not lower on the plants culture with service plants than on the plants culture with no service plants. Thrips were not significantly present in the culture to prove anything. However, despite lack of efficiency, some plants showed to be attractive to natural enemies, for example buckwheat on syrphids population. However others, like tansy, are attracting thrips population.
