Élaboration d'un plan de gestion des espèces exotiques envahissantes dans la Réserve de Biosphère de Camargue

Abstract : Invasive alien species are one of the major causes of world’s biodiversity loss. The law’s updates (european, national and regional) give a more precise frame to organise actions on those species. In that context, the Scientific and Ethical Council of the Camargue Park and Biosphere Reserve reunited different experts to start a working group on this thematic. The purpose of this group is to develop a plan of actions to coordinate all actors of the territory and have a concerted management of the invasive alien species. In order to do so, different actors have been interrogated to know their interest for the thematic. This highlights the possibility to implement a concerted management on the territory. The next step was to rank the different species in lists (alert, survey, control and eradication) according to their impact on the environment, their area of distribution and the practicability of the management. Then, that information was put together to write action sheets organized around five themes: the governance and financing of the plan, the prevention and early eradication of non-present species, the management of the present species (detection, control and eradication), the increase of knowledges on those species and sharing of information and finally the communication and education. The rest will be to find founds to employ an officer to coordinate the plan and to search for financing it.
