Comment prévenir et traiter les escarres chez une personne alitée en 2017 ?

Abstract : A bedsore is a pressure wound that mostly affects the elderly. The French are an aging population and the government wants to develop home care. The prevalence of bedsores will thus increase in the coming years. Doctors, pharmacists and nurses will be increasingly concerned by the prevention and treatment of pressure sores. Prévention is crucial, it concerns all professionals in the medical field who are in touch with the patient. There are numerous prevention measures (changing position, effleurage, support aids to prevent bedsores…). Not applying the appropriate prevention practices is responsable for the appearence of bedsores. Among other things, this causes physical and psychological pain for the patient, but also creates a cost for the French health system. The patient's pain must be treated by the medical team. They must keep in mind that if the pain is expressed, it does exist and must consequently be treated. The sore is usually covered with a dressing after having received the necessary care (cleaning, detersion, using honey to cover it....). When classic care isn't enough or the wrong treatment used, alternative technics exist and must be employed ( NPWT, larvo therapy, surgery). The prevention and treatment of bedsores have certainly not reached their peak, major research is underway (the French connected Gaspard pad, Chitosane gauze or dressings made of egg shells…).
