Apport des corticotomies alvéolaires dans les traitements orthodontiques par aligneurs : à propos d'un cas clinique

Abstract : Over the last decade, a new therapeutic method has emerged in orthodontics: removable and transparent aligners. More aesthetic and comfortable, orthodontic treatment with aligners is better accepted by adult patients. However, in his systematic review, Rossini (1) showed that their efficiency remained limited for some movements (extrusion, torque, rotation). At the same time, a new surgical technique called "alveolar corticotomy" has been developed. Its goal is to accelerate and to facilitate the dental movement induced by performing a selective alveolar decortication. Thanks to this decortication, combined with an increase by bone grafting, the envelope of the possible movements is extended and the periodontium is reinforced by increasing the cortical thickness (2). The combination of aligners and alveolar corticotomies could improve the results achieved by aligners. Few publications on this combination have been published in the literature but Casseta (3) describes a treatment of a class I with dento-arcade disharmony in only 2 months.
