Enquête de pratique auprès des médecins généralistes girondins concernant le recours aux professionnels de soins palliatifs

Abstract : Introduction: palliative cares are a recent medical discipline. Faced the increase of life expectancy and political will to enact palliative care at hospital or at home, general practitioners are increasingly confronted, but they find their formation insufficient and need of help from colleagues. Method: a quantitative survey has been done with the participation of 124 general practitioners in Gironde from October 2017 to February 2018 about resort to palliative care professionals. Results: 49 general practitioners accepted to participate so a participation rate of 39.5%. The majority is between 41 and 55 years old (n=36). 43% work in town and 41% in semi-rural areas. 45% told that palliative care are occupying increasingly position in their daily work. 61% treated 1 to 3 palliative care patients in 2016. 33% said they were not trained in palliative care. Patient refusal is the first reason why, GPs don't resort to palliative care professionals. 98% don't know Pallia 10. General practitioners would like more meetings with palliative care colleagues to contact them easily and quickly. Conclusion: regional disparities are pronounced in Gironde concerning the supply of care in palliative care structures. General practitioner can feel isolated to take care of their patients in difficult situations or when their patients refuse palliative care professionals help. Hotline, telemedicine, increase hospital and non-hospital structures are tracks proposed by general practitioners to reduce inequalities.
