Un regard sur la conscience corporelle : du vécu corporel à la représentation mentale de l’acte chez les adultes déficients visuels congénitaux

Abstract : The concept of body awareness is very commonly used by psychomotor professionals. Not only is it taught to the students, aspiring therapists, but also to the patients themselves in the aim of prevention or rehabilitation. I have had the chance to meet and to provide therapeutic (psychomotor) assistance to three different people who were either partially or entirely deprived of the ability to see; this work follows upon these experiences to question the meaning of body awareness. It notably consists in assessing the importance of sight in the process of body consciousness, and also rehabilitates the prominence of other senses in that matter such as proprioception or the haptic perception. Those remain essential to fully understand, to be aware of or to represent one's own body in multiple situations.
