Comme un poisson dans l’eau : l’approche de l’eau en psychomotricité auprès d’enfants polyhandicapés

Abstract : The multi handicap is a serious handicap with a lot of bodily expressions. This is characterized by an intellectual and motor disability as well and an extreme low functional autonomy. Numerous weaknesses impact on the psychomotor development of the child and affect him in the self-construal. This report poses questions about using the aquatic mediation in psychomotricity with multi-handicapped children. Real sensory material, the benefit functions of the water gets to the multi-handicapped person a great aquatic environment of game, recreation, experience, action, emotion and learning which make something possible as relation and communication. Through two supports of multi-handicapped children, we’ll show the impact of the water in the reappropriation of a body in movement and as well as in its psychic elaboration. We also perceive the role of the psychomotor therapist in the scaffolding of the child.
