L'apport du télé-accompagnement dans l'amélioration de l'observance précoce de la PPC, lors de la phase initiale, chez les patients porteurs d'un SAOS

Abstract : Sleep apnea syndrome is a chronic pathology that requires the implementation of night ventilation delivered at a continuous positive pressure. Treatment compliance is often low because of its constraints. As in all chronic diseases, therapeutic education seems to be necessary to improve compliance. With technological progress, remote-support, by phone calls, is a new form of therapeutic education that can be interesting to study. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the contribution of "remote-support" made by phone calls of the investigator during the initial CPAP set up at the home of the patient recently diagnosed with sleep apnea syndrome. It aimed to compare CPAP compliance expressed in minutes between two groups of patients. Firstly, a control group, who did not receive a regular motivational call, and a second "remote-support "group who regularly received it, according to their compliance. Concerning compliance, there was a 24 minutes increase for the remote-support group compared to the control group. This increase for the remote-support group enabled them to reach the 4 hours compliance mark, recognized as the minimum treatment duration required in order for the patient to receive the benefits of CPAP. We noticed that the control group's compliance decreased during the first 3 months, whilst compliance of the remote-support group remained more stable over time. The results of this study support the idea of the importance of therapeutic education in chronic diseases. This process can be implemented by non-drug related, behavioural actions for patients to improve their treatment compliance.
