Étude comparative TSA/TDL : impact d’un entrainement syntaxique sur la théorie de l’esprit

Abstract : Children with Austim Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or with Developmental Language Disorder (DL) have theory of mind (ToM) difficulties. Based on the link found in the litterature between the mastery of embedded sentences and the success at ToM tasks, the aim of this study is to propose a specific training of embedded sentences to children with ASD and DLD as well as to children with typical developement (TD) so they can improve their performance in ToM. We proposed linguistic training to 29 children for a duration of 4 to 6 weeks, including 12 sessions of 30 minutes. One set of 18 children received a syntactic training (target) and the other set of 11 received a lexical training (control). We report encouraging results regarding the target population’s improvement of their performance for embedded sentences and in TdE, contrary to the control population. The gains of the target population were maintained one to two months after the end of the training. The training of embedded sentences thus appears promising for the rehabilitation of TdE deficits in TSA and TDL.
