Éducation à la vie sexuelle et affective : besoins, connaissances et attentes des jeunes collégiens

Abstract : Introduction : As schools struggle in planning sex education, knowing the needs and expectations of middle school students around this theme seemed important to us. We also wanted to know if there was a real impact of sex education on their knowledge of sexuality.
Methods : A two-parts study was conducted in a middle school in Paris, France, before and after a sex education course delivered by midwifery students. Seventy five eighth grade students answered our surveys.
Results : There was an improve in their knowledge after one hour of sex education (p < 0.0001). We also found that their needs and expectations match more what is actually done at schools than French laws.
Conclusion : Sex education is essential for youngers’ health and is a public health issue. Courses given by student midwives could be a solution to difficulties that schools face planning them.
