Le soutien social ressenti par les femmes durant la grossesse

Abstract : The pregnancy is a particular period in a women’s life, because of the changes she goes through. It’s a transition time where vulnerabilities can appear. In order to adapt those modifications (physicals and psychics), women and their partners create coping strategies. One of those strategies is to surround themselves with « helping people » that they can rely on. This network of people is called social support. It’s a multidimensional concept, which includes emotional, informative and material support. This study will allow us to debrief the satisfaction of the social support felt by women during pregnancy in Marseille maternities. All the actors of social support are considered in this study: spousal, mother, friends, family and professionals. Also, we can see that women are mostly satisfied by their spousal’s and their mothers’ social support. Friends and family comes second in the results, and we can read in others studies that they will be ask for help more in the postpartum period. Regarding the professionals, results are middling. Beside the rapport on the women’s satisfaction about social support, this study shows us what should be improved in the actual social support. Morever, the early interview made in the fourth month of pregnancy (« entretien prénatal précoce ») and the prenatal courses (« préparation à la naissance et à la parentalité ») appear as very important during the pregnancy, mostly in the social support by the professionals. At the end of this study hypothesis to fortify this social support (mainly by the professionals) will be made.
