Les pratiques corporelles de bien-être et l’empathie au service d’un climat de classe serein

Abstract : A positive school climate with a safe learning environment and students’ well-being are main concerns of our French education system. Acting to achieve them is crucial to foster all students’ success and their well-being. This research asks how bodily well-being exercises and empathy contribute to create a safe learning environment, favourable to learn. In order to answer this question, some observations have been led in a last year of a nursery school’s class. They did bodily well-being exercises every week. Moreover, some teachers who used to practice bodily well-being exercises answer to a survey. Results demonstrate that bodily well-being practices seem to have a positive effect on a safe learning environment, on teachers’ well-being and on students’ works and concentration. However, it seems complicated to establish a link with empathy and students’ well-being. Last year of a nursery school’s students are too young to decenter themselves and put words on their feelings.
