Prévention des troubles musculo-squelettiques du chirurgien-dentiste par l'activité physique

Abstract : The practice of dentistry is a very physically demanding activity, despite the respect of ergonomic precautions. Dentists are constantly exposed to the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). At their origin, repetitive gestures, static postures or extreme articular amplitudes induced by the professional activity.
 Constantly increasing, they are the leading cause of work disability and early retirement. Indeed, they are a real economic, social and individual scourge for the profession. Current therapies are insufficient to relieve pain and improve function damaged by MSDs. It is therefore essential to focus on primary prevention and the physical activity is the most effective therapeutic to prevent MSDs. Indeed, MSDs occur when daily biomechanical stress exceed the individual's physical capacity to adapt. Inadequate or inappropriate physical maintenance associated with underestimation of muscle preparation for exercise can be the starting point. However, the practice of dentistry leads to a specific muscle imbalance that is important to take into account in the construction of exercise programs in order not to fall into a vicious circle of pain. In the digital era, it is through a mobile application that we have decided to provide the practitioner all the necessary tools for a targeted and adapted physical preparation to his profession. In order to resist the cumulative constraints of his professional life.
