Évaluation du langage chez l’enfant présentant une neuropathie auditive/ dyssynchronie auditive. Comparaison en population appariée à un groupe d’enfants atteints d’une surdité neurosensorielle et à un groupe présentant un trouble de langage oral

Abstract : Auditory neuropathy / Auditory dyssynchrony causes major difficulties in the processing of sound information associated with variable level of hearing loss. Language impairment in this pathology is more important than expected for the degree of hearing loss, and tends to increase in noise. The aim of this essay was to highlight typical AN/AD language characteristics, as additional elements that could help in diagnosis. We compared 6 children suffering from AN/AD to children with classical sensorineural hearing loss and children with an oral language disorder without deafness. The analysis of language assessments results showed that children with AN/AD have a weak expressive modality, typical in deaf children. Children with AN/AD have lower average scores in receptive modality tests than the other two groups. Their language understanding is more impaired, due to the difficulties in auditory information processing.
