Émergence du français en contexte de scolarisation initiale chez les enfants turcophones avant 3 ans

Abstract : In four schools at Val-de-Reuil (27), one class is dedicated to welcome children to school from the age of 2 instead of 3. This early schooling aims to prevent possible developmental impairments. There are, among these children, some who come from Turkish-speaking families. Those children, as well as attending collective care for the first time, are also confronted with a new language. Our objective is to describe the way in which children learn the French language before the age of 3. In order to do that we observed seven Turkish-speaking children in their classrooms from September 2018 to April 2019. We assessed their level both in French and in Turkish to study their evolution and compare children amongst themselves. It became apparent that children have different attitudes towards this new language but followed the same developmental steps. We also brought to light similar processes to those relative to the development of the native language.
