Évaluation de l'apathie via un serious game : étude d'acceptabilité et premiers résultats

Abstract : The growth of new technologies opens novel perspectives in the medical world both for the evaluation and the care of patients. These new tools changing traditional medicine codes, it is necessary to measure patients interaction with these technologies, how they feel about them and their ability to distinguish healthy and pathological subjects. We have studied the acceptability of MotAp (Motivation Application) by the means of a questionnaire submitted to 26 patients at the Resource and Research Memory Center of the University Hospital of Nice. We have secondarily studied the game exploring areas of interest included in MotAp to see if it can distinguish the apathetic subjects from non-apathetic subjects. We had 3 scores: the total number of areas of interest (maximum 17), the number of selected photos (maximum 102) and the time. Our results show that elderly patients favorably welcome the application (mean = 20.57 / 27) and there are no correlations between the total score obtained on the questionnaire and the presence of apathy, age or diagnosis. However, the total score obtained on the acceptability questionnaire is correlated with the score of the anxiety side of the Neuropsychiatric Inventory. Moreover, the game exploring areas of interest with the MotAp application can distinguish apathetic subjects from non-apathetic subjects. These results are encouraging and allow us to consider a generalization of the evaluations via this type of application considering the positive feeling expressed by patients and the reliability of the obtained results.
