Syndrome d’apnées hypopnées obstructives du sommeil chez l'enfant : étude descriptive dans la population pédiatrique consultant dans les services d'odontologie des CHU de Bordeaux

Abstract : Sleep apnea in children is a common respiratory disorder with an estimated prevalence of 1 to 5.7%, which if left untreated, can lead to severe medical complications. The diagnosis of OSA in children depends both on daytime and nighttime symptoms which vary between individuals and also on the results of nocturnal monitoring via polysomnography (PSG). Since access to PSG is limited in France - leading to under-diagnosing pathology - we propose to dentists the routine use of simple and reliable tools for predicting OSAS in order to prioritize registrations. The aim of this work is to estimate the prevalence of SAHOS detected by the PSQ SRBD in the pediatric population consulting the odontology services of the Bordeaux University Hospital. The study is transversal. The study population is made up of 150 children (age 9.5 ± 3.9 years old, 9 overweight) and two dentistry centers (Pellegrin PQR, Saint-André). The parents responded to the French version of PSQ SRBD, validated by the work of Le Tanneur or De Luca Canto, and the scores of Mallamapti and Friedman were collected. The results are obtained by calculating the SRBD score. A threshold value of 8 positive responses is described for positive screening. (30% suspected). By correlating our results with those of Dr. J. CAHOT HIRIART, we were able to estimate this prevalence among 294 children.
